Do you ever wonder where they ever found that perfectly obscure cookie jar to hold the ashes of one of the killed off characters? Or are you so wrapped up in the show that the set just flows and you never even have to wonder?
Either way, learning about how sets are created, how props are found and selected, and what it is like to take a vision and bring it to reality to create movie and TV sets is fascinating! There are so many moving pieces and a single vision that many contribute to fulfilling.
There is the legwork of actually getting out and finding the couch and the car and the cooking bowls and the casino props (can you tell which show I just finished watching? And yes, she worked on that one too!). Then there is the logistics of actually getting these items to the set and into the right place. When the show or movie wraps, what happens to these items? What about reshoots?
All of that is super cool and fun to learn about. In this two part interview there is something even better- one woman’s story of exemplifying an absolute growth mindset. From answering “you bet” when asked if she knew how to use a bunch of specific tools (even though she didn’t even know what the tools were!) to managing the decorating of entire sets of award winning movies and shows, Bridget Keefe shares with us what it means to understand you can learn how to do just about anything if you have a growth mindset. And Bridget has an entertaining, humble, and down to earth way of sharing it.
If you enjoy learning about how TV and movies are created and also like to be inspired these are two episodes you do not want to miss!
